This 6' early VICO a sign was recently found in a local collectors inventory and we were fortunate to be able to purchase it from him. It is a double sided porcelain sign which we will put up on a pole as soon as we can find a pole and ring for it. It is a bit rough and extremely rare so we feel thrilled to add it to our collection at aaaLakeside Storage in Provo. We have several of the smaller VICO a signs, but have never even seen a big one like this before. VICO was the Oil Brand for Utah Oil Refining Company, which was the first refining Company in Utah and established in 1908. Union Pacific owned stock in the Company and shipped the oil to SLC from Colorado to be refined and marketed the oil as VICO a and the gas as Pep 88. We love to find local stuff for our collection as it usually has a good story to go with it. This one is no exception and we will save the story for another day. Perhaps when we get it stood on a pole?
