Looks to be an older decorative piece meant to hang on a wall-- knives and pike don't appear to have been functional weapons.

Also size appears to be small (you don't mention dimensions) reinforcing that is decorative.

My best guess is that this was a souvenir piece for someone who spent time in the Pacific, as some of these weapon styles look Indonesian. If so, I think the construction would make it an early example.

Very interesting. I wonder if they were used at one time to whittle??? The nails are certainly old as well.

      Curious, great post!

Now i need to know, you put the size as 18 x 11", is that the size of the whole display? And do you feel like these were strong enough to whittle at one point? I do believe they would have to have been sturdy for that but smaller than 11".

18x11 is measurment of complete board, I belive they are copper ie dont think they would be able to whittle with, this is a very interesting piece worthy of further investigating to its origin and time period.thank you for your input in helping to solve this mystery.mike
