We got this chair from my wifes Aunt. They were a fairly wealthy family out of Montreal who imported linens and goods from England. This was a chair out of their home which we believe was brought over from the UK. It was resprung professionally and recovered about 13 years ago but the wood part was not restored. That is original. There is a head carved into the back that looks like a nobleman. The legs are short so I think it may have been a dressing table chair or bedroom chair? Really don't know much else about it. I have always wondered about it so if you have any clues, let me know please!

    Thanks

This is a very nice piece for sure. I find furniture hard to identify, it's always helpful when a tag or numbers are shown underneath. Have you looked there? That info possibly was removed when the springs were replaced. I hope someone here can help you.
