Found this gorgeous Arts and Crafts plate while out searching for something else. It is stamped but I can't read it all (see photo) It looks like "*echanal". There is a husband and wife team who produced pewter items in the early twentieth century who signed their work "aechanal" for Alice and Eugene Chanal but the letters are stamped in a different font style.
Does anybody know if the business continued after the wars and if the stamp mark changed? Or perhaps a son or daughter continued in the family tradition? I don't want to wrongly attribute something but the style and the (partial) name fits, what do the folks on Collectors Weekly think?
    PS Size 16.5cm.

Wow nice find! I would love to visit some of the brocantes you go too. I would imagine the range of items there would be so different to here.

I had a look and found a signature similar to tours here ...

I think you could well be on on the right track with Chanal.

I bought a piece signed in the same way yesterday …. a pitcher/creamer that I will post soon. You’re right …. There is a A before The E CHANAL.

I’ve recently seen a similar form with more decoration attributed to Jeanne De Brouckère (Brussels, 1887–Hampstead 1945) . It seems that she was a major influence on Alice Chanal (née Holbach) (1872-1951).

Can I add that I have just checked my 'memory' and the piece I am referring to was a much smaller piece ... a button with inserted opals ... Bouton serti d'opales.
