Vases from the Bavarian glass works at Schliersee (Glasfabrik Schliersee) are rare. When they do come up for auction, they are usually described as Loetz or something else. The real trick is to recognize them when you see them.

About a year ago, I posted Prod. Nr. 328 in this decor. Another one recently came up in Prod. Nr. 325, and I got a good price on it, thanks to a misunderstood cooling mark and an accurate but quite generic description.

This "Kröselndekor" (Frits decor) vase is in a form documented in the expense table books from Schliersee/Regenhütte. Clear glass is covered in melted frits of yellow and ruby red, with yellow iridescence, and finally enameled with a tulip design in the "pastry bag" style found on some early Loetz pieces. While somewhat similar to Loetz's "papillon", this combination of colors and motifs makes this Schliersee decor recognizable and distinctive.

The third photo shows this vase (PN 325) next to my other vase (PN 328). The fourth photo shows the line drawings extracted from the expense table books of the factory, ca. 1901-1905, as depicted in Gläserner Jugendstil aus Bayern, by Christiane Sellner - a book that I find myself going back to time and time again- it has become quite indispensable.
