This 5 inch tall glass commemorates Wilkes-Barre, PA's Pocono Downs 20th Anniversary season of 1985.

The glass is five inches tall, and has a hob nailed bottom. Its reverse features It's Fritz, a pretty good harness horse in his time. There were other horses featured on similar glasses during the 20th Anniversary season.

Pocono Downs is now owned by Mohegan Sun, which has increased the purses and consequently the quality of racing at Pocono.

      Love it!!

Your talking to someone who worked in the Horse Racing Industry for over 20 years. I used to collect Horse Racing Programs from different places. Personally, I prefer Harness Racing over the Thoroughbreds -- Easier to handicap.....LOL

Trifecta, Exacta, Quinella, Superfecta, etc, etc......I know them all.....LOL

Thanks, Rose! It sounds like you've had an interesting life!!!!

I prefer the Thoroughbreds myself, but I attend the Harness races, too. At one distance, you would think that handicapping would be easier with the Standardbreds, but…..

So with this, Harness racing may yield shorter prices. When people say to me "why do you bet short horses?", I say "when was the last time your bank gave you 2-1 on your deposits?" :)

@Ted - Exactly. Even if you get .80 cents back on 2 dollars in a time of 1:59 the race went -- No bank gives you that return in such short time. Ahh, harness much easier....parked out wide, under-cover, qualifiers....LOL....all secrets to look for.

Love this post -- as brings back so many good memories of that job.

All that you say is true, antiquerose! The little signs can help us get the winners. It's sad that many contemporary people seek immediate gratification, that is they don't have the patience, nor the will to look for the right spot that Horse Race Betting can give them.

I'd much rather study up, and look for the right spot to place my money, than to try to buck the odds in a casino where the action is fast, and the money goes just as fast. At least in betting on a horse, one has some input on why and where we place our bets…!

I'm glad to be able to have brought back some good memories to you with this post
