I've had this stored in our shed since Summer so I thought I'd bring it in and post it. I don't know much about this painting other than I really like it. It was buried in the picture stacks at our old Salvation Army in town, missing it's frame and suffering a few areas of damage. One two inch tear and a couple small punctures which will need repair at some point. It is signed Bisset 98' on the front and the back is also signed and dated with the title "Seven Women". An online search turned up a few Bisset's , but they all have the extra "t" at the end. One promising candidate is Bill Bissett. He's listed as a Canadian artist and his work looks very close to this. He is also still alive but quite old since he was born in 1939. So he could have done this if it is him. It could just be a high school art fair project too. Here's the "Ask Art" link for comparison:

I see this framed in a nice ornate gesso frame. It's not a very standard size though at 27" x 36" and a frame like that would be quite expensive to have made. Maybe I'll find one someday. -Mike-

      Hi
      Mike
Really in the shed, well, I think I was the only one, with so many Artwork,, there no room in the house for it.
      I am glad I am not alone:D
It's like PICASSO STYLE, I really love it.
      Regards
      Alan

Thanks Alan :).... yes in the shed. Suffered no ill effects even with the extreme temperatures from summer to winter. In fact the canvas is nicely tightened up now. I really need to find a frame and hang this one damaged or not. It's staying in the house now...lol.

Thanks eye :) Looks like you nailed it ! ....Awesome ! Yep, bitter cold Ohio. Now I should be able to find something out about this artist but, still no luck. A first name or initial sure would have been helpful when they signed it.

Well I just bought a Bisset and found this. I also found a Bisset which is very similar to what I purchased.. also found in GoodWill. Bisset painting style is in the same manner as Urbain Huchet a very famous French artist.
My search only comes up with Jacqueline Bisset.. Which she swamps the internet. She does love Art. Any news on Bisset .. let us know
