Alessi makes whimsical housewares in Italy, made of high quality material and craftsmanship and costing as much as a piece of art. However I found the lovely tea kettle on the kitchen utensil shelves of the Goodwill in the Fillmore District of San Francisco for a few dollars. It goes for $184 on the Alessi website and the bird whistle alone costs $25. The site offers a matching tea pot.

I have enjoyed making tea with the kettle on the sailboat I live on. This is one of the few things from the house I lived in. I downsized and almost nothing came with me to the sailboat except food. The kettle makes me happy in the morning or on windy winter nights it keeps me warm and cozy with the heat from the propane stove. It's even helped me go off of coffee and caffeine since the tea kettle is a joy to use.

18/10 stainless steel mirror polished with handle and small bird-shaped whistle in PA, light blue. Magnetic steel bottom suitable for induction cooking.

This is my first piece of Alessi but recently I also discovered an Alessi corkscrew Anna G. in the same place. http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/147175-alessi-anna-g-corkscrew

How did you discover the line? Since I found each piece in the Fillmore, I attribute the good taste to the young and well to do of lower Pacific Heights or the wealthy of Pacific Heights. Fillmore Street is lined with every kind of food on Earth.
