I bought this lamp recently without a shade and I'm sure the one I'm using is all wrong. Even with this ugly modern shade it looks stunning, and I get compliments on it constantly. The body of the lamp is ceramic, but (hand?) painted brown and gold and textured to look like something else; aged leather is my guess. I would like some tips on restoring the ceramic portion, which has some cracks and chips where the unpainted white ceramic material shows through. The brass base and finial look original to me and have a nice patina, but I'm not so sure about the rest of the metal parts. The cord is from before the advent of polarized plugs. I would like to know who made this beauty and when, and what the original shade looked like. Thanks!
