Jeanne Thil was a French Orientalist artist. This is a miniature painting on ivory of the artist and her dog "Reix." I would like to know if this was painted by the artist or another artist. Please see tag on the reverse of the painting.
Born on 18 December 1887 in Calais France(Pas-de-Calais). Died 16 March 1968 Le Vesinet France
Painter of figures, landscapes, oriental subjects.
She was a pupil of Charles Fouqueray and of Humbert. She lived and worked in Paris.
She participated in group exhibitions in Paris, of which, since 1911, the Salon des Artistes Français, of which she became a member. She received awards and honors: a silver medal in 1920, a travel scholarship in 1921, a gold medal in 1924, a silver medal in 1937 (International Exhibition),
and received the Legion of Honor in 1938. She painted panels from Tunisia and AOF for the Colonial Exposition of Vincennes. She decorated French liners.
