While looking at some of the tango glass Loetz pieces being offered domestically and abroad, I noticed that occasionally the pieces would have a different (crimped) rim, and berry finials and/or feet. Furthermore, these pieces seemed to occur within a small group of color combinations - kaiserrot, himmelblau, mandarin, and occasionally, citrongelb, like the example shown here. Cross referencing those pieces that appeared in known shapes with their color combinations referenced in Lötz Böhmisches Glas, Band 2 (Katalog der Musterschnitte), each of those referenced an Ausführung number - 224.

Ausf. 224 has now been added to the Loetz.com site, and examples in other color combinations may be seen at the Ausf. 224 page here:

What a fantastic piece of art glass! I particularly love how the detail of the crimped rim and berry feet contrast so beautifully with the silkiness of the yellow glass. I love it!!

      beautiful piece!

could You please describe surface of the vase? is it like yellow MOP?
    8. bohemianglassandmore bohemianglassandmore, 10 years ago
Mac, it is a colorless outer layer over an opaque yellow ground. The depth of color and iridescence are what set it apart. I would not call it MOP or air trap - it's pure tango.

Love the wild tango pieces like this! Great piece!

I bid on an elephant handle loetz tango piece over the weekend, but came up short :(

Here are more examples Jericho previously posted in case you had not seen them.
