I recently received 2 antique clocks from my Great Grandparents estate and would like any info you might have about the 2 clocks. I am less interested in their value but more interested in the age, where clocks were made etc, as these are more sentimental than anything.
1. The first clock (black) has a plaque on it that it was given to great grandparents in 1896 so I know rough age. The movement has Junghans stamped on the brass.
2. The second is a Seth Thomas, don't think it is as old as the Jungans just based on the condition
Any insight is appreciated
Can't help with the Junghans but it looks like you have a Seth Thomas "Lynton 1W" from circa 1950. Regarding the Junghans please provide the following:
Any and *all* information printed, stamped or labeled on the dial, movement, case, pendulum and key. This includes names, trademarks, serial/model/patent numbers and dates.
Measurements of the dial and case. Please take measurements at the longest, widest, and deepest points only.
Well lit photos of the entire case, with close-ups of the dial, movement and any distinctive decorative feature(s) or labels.
Please note if the case appears to have a simulated or "faux" finish.
Any additional provenance information.
We probably have some Junghans collectors here and this information will be very helpful, but it still may not lead to a definitive model or date.
Good luck.
