Here is something I just came across I believe it may be an old Surgeons bone cutting knife but that's a guess. Measures about 15 inches in length and blade at widest point is 3 inches. Anyone have a answer or guess to era and knife type?
I doubt it was used by a surgeon because of the coarse teeth on the saw edge. It looks more to me like a skinning knife. The hole in the blade would be to hang it on a hook, possibly in a butcher shop or slaughter house. The handle looks 50's vintage.
Agree ....kinda like those survival knives also, but an older one
My brother had something like this:

Just a thought with it being older -- Could it have something to do with the Military ?? or the World Wars ?
Worth checking in to.......Just throwing the thought out there
The hole in the blade makes me think its for military use and more of a survival knife, why would a butcher blade have a hole in it. Really cool looking knife. Trench knife?
Hey Guys I appreciate all the comments and thoughts I will start looking to see if I can't find something military related.
I have both butchers knives and meat cleavers and all of them have a hole in the blade to hang them. If you have ever been in a slaughter house or butcher shop you would know the tools were hung so you didn't need to bend over or hunt for them. They hung on metal hooks.
I'd go with military too. Military knives had holes in them so you could put rope through, use them as two man saw etc. One edge cutting, the other serated... Old survival knife.
@fhrjr2 - I know what you mean. One of my first jobs at 17 was working in a Locker Plant (aka butcher shop // Slaughter house). I did not have to do that (Thank God) -- but I wrapped pounds, and pounds of meat, sausages...etc. Yes, they had different sized *S* hooks with Meat hanging off them
Thanks to everyone for sharing opionions and information.
hey why not a prison shank ...lol but does look like it was meant to cut meat and bones...
