A 7th Cavalry A Company Hat Device that I purchased from a local gun shop. I have never seen a replica with the Screw Back and Pins. Just wondering if this is an Original, the approximate time frame of it's use and maybe a value?
Thanks,
Thanks Cind.... I think it is an original possibly the Indian Wars, but I have yet to find where to verify it. :)
Have a great day!
The 7th didn't end at Little Bighorn and is still around now. This is probably real but fairly modern.
I'm answering from work on my iPhone, so I don't have my references handy, but at a glance i'd say Spanish American War era
Question for you Chris. When did screw on backs start showing up on mil. insignia? Actually, I would have said more recent on this one. "Work"! That's another 4 letter word that ends with a "K"!
End of the 19th century, Blunder. In fact I think this example fit the model 1895 Forrage cap. Unfortunately I'm still on my iPhone and away from my reference books.
Wow, thanks for all of the good info. Doubtful that anyone would have counterfeited an 1895 hat pin, they'd work harder at a Civil War/Indian Wars era pin. Maybe it's an original... Thanks all..
