This had been sitting around for a month at Salvation Army with an exorbitant price on it. They finally locked it in the show case where it's been sitting till today. Every day they discount a different color tag by 50 %. Today was all blue tags... so here it is. I didn't know the maker right away. The oval label was removed from the side leaving only the paper. The little square silver "Made in Italy" label was still there though. I peered inside and saw the card in the bottom. Mystery solved ! My research showed that Azzerra was massed produced mid-century Italian art glass. Not as valuable as say Murano or Venetian glass, but still very nice. This vase is in perfect condition and quite large at 14 1/2 ". It has a nice Asian influenced baluster shape. The colors are an interesting mix of black and olive with splashes of orange and yellow. There are even some metallic gold and copper highlights. I'm glad I waited because I got a great price on it thanks to my friendly cashier. :) -Mike-
I think it a piece the Japanese would love and I think I recall seeing some for sale in the second hand market there.
It looks quite fine Mike - and the colours really look good with light behind.
Good score! again
