A lot of Japanese glass I see needs a bit of a Japanese eye to appreciate fully - I don't mean that rudely it's just that styles they find beautiful in their culture can sometimes seem wrong when viewed through Western trained eyes.
That's not the case here. This vase could have come from any number of Western glass designers.
I think this vase is relatively contemporary from Art Glass and just shows the glass makers there can pretty well turn their hand to anything.
I like the treacly browns. The shape is a classic I think. A bit unstable though!
