I found this in South Haven Michigan while antique hunting. There was a beautiful old church that was being used as an antique store. Well, the outside was a church, the inside looked like it was a warehouse. There he stood, with a little 'occupied Japan' figurine next to him and my husband bought them both for me for maybe $5.00 - I don't care that it's not worth anything, but I would like to learn more about it. I think the detail is nice and I have it on my desk at work, to remind me of my trips with family and the fun things we find together.
Well I think he is GORGEOUS !!!!
That Mark is very blurred but I would suggest you look at Bloor Derby.
Mark 12

thanks! I think he's gorgeous too! There are Chinese symbols under the crown but you are right - a bit blurry...
Look carefully. There are five letters in the top line and five underneath.
The first word begins with a B.
The Second a D.
I am not saying it IS Bloor Derby, but it certainly trying to be.
The subject matter is not at all Chinese ..... Even for the export market.
Chinese figures have a different look when they were imitating Europen faces.
At any rate you have a good find here.
Tyrolean Costume ..... All the way down to the Lederhosen.
Tyrolean Tracht!
Really? Maybe my old eyes aren't working right :) Thank you, it DOES sort of look like that now that you mention it....
vetraio50 I've changed the description since your answer seems to make much more sense than mine. Thanks!
Check out Mayrhofen .....
The hats are quite particular to the various parts of the South Tyrol.
There is a festival called Almabtrieb when they don the Tracht.
