This is an Antique GORHAM Silver Butler's Platter or Tray. It is from my Grandmother's estate, and I know for a fact that she bought it at an antique shop in New York 55 years ago. It is heavy and large, measuring 26 3/4 long by 17 3/4 wide. Based upon it's very clear markings, which I have shown in the pictures, it looks to date to 1871. It is footed and has raised handles that are pierced in a vine and leaf pattern, which I have not been able to identify. It also has the letter "V" in the center of the platter. I have researched this piece in every vintage and antique GORHAM book I could get my hands on, including books which are very rare themselves. I just cannot identify this piece. If anyone knows anything about this piece, please let me know.
