      TV lamp probably dates to the 1950's. They were made in the shape of all kinds of animals. It sat on the TV and you turned it on at night. No remotes back then and a room light normally killed the image brightness on the screen. So you used a TV lamp and shut the other lights off. This gave enough light so you could see to get up and change channels. Although normally if there was a kid in the room the kid was told to go change the channel.
