Leger and Purist Paris (18 Nov 1970-24 Jan 1971)

The selection of works for this exhibition made by Dr John Golding centred upon Fernand Leger’s work in the period 1918-27, considered by many to be when he was at his best and most original. Alongside some of Leger’s earlier paintings, the paintings and sculptures of Purists, for example Ozenfant and Le Corbusier were featured together with works sharing similar formal and thematic concerns by figures such as Picasso, Gris, Braque and Mondrian. The exhibition presented 126 pieces in total, 73 of these by Leger and was attended by over 28,000 visitors.

found out it was a run of 500 for the London underground to advertise the exhibition.
