Background Information:
The Leerdam Glass Factory has a long tradition in the manufacture of orange vases. In 1927, the artist Chris Lanooy designed (1881-1948), the first, on the occasion of the 18th birthday of Princess Juliana. It was a ribbed, onion-shaped vase with a short stand-up neckline, which was inspired in design by an orange cone. It was carried out in the newly developed color by Leerdam; hot orange. Orange tinted glass arose in finding Lanooy to production of bright red glass. Because orange, and red technically difficult to make, the color of the vases was little constant. By temperature differences in the manufacturing could color range from orange-yellow to deep orange. Therefore, it was spoken in ads about 'warm orange of different nuances. In 1934, this vase was again sold as Juliana vase, but on the occasion of its 25th anniversary.
