What's on the other side, could it be a mirror stand.

This is a very nice piece, I love Chinese silver gilt and enamel.
    6. Peasejean55 Peasejean55, 10 years ago
So the enamel is on both side, back to the drawing board.

The base looks similiar to the one on my link. I wonder if it was a mirror, the mirror was broken, they had 2 similiar round discs and fitted them in place of the mirror, to make it into a decorative orniment. That's the best I can come up with, I'll be interested in what other people's theories are. Good luck.

If you look on the link they say the age is between 1900-1940.
    9. ATTWOOD ATTWOOD, 10 years ago
The mirror link is certainly very similar.I would date to that era. The cloisonne on both sides is slightly convex.
      No marks on base
      Thanks for input and love.

It seems to me that the quality of the cloisonne work on the base and arms is finer than that for the dragon and phoenix. Like Peasejean55, I would believe the disks are not original to the piece.

Yes noob, that seems to me like it could be trye. The base is certainly much finer than the top.I do love it though.
      cheers Rose

thanks all for the love.I am still no closer as to what it is? I believe the part with the dragon on one side and phoeix on other has been added at a later date,
Shrine are you around ? Any thoughts?
