This pair of statues sat on a bookcase throughout my childhood, and I had always been told not to touch. They appear to be pottery? The man has a beard and long hair w/ a hat, holds a sword, is wearing a robe and sits on a pedestal. The woman is holding what I believe to be a lotus flower (appears one petal has been broken), she too is wearing a robe and sits on a pedestal. The man's face is of a reddish brown color, while the woman's is pale. Both are glazed green. They both have an indented stamp of CHINA inside the pedestal. Both are approx. 6 -7 inches high and moderately heavy. I have searched for even a close resemblance with no luck, and would like to know where they are from, what they are made of, how they were made, how old, (they must be at least 50 years, that's my age), if they are rare, or just from the 5 and dime..

Yes, once I know what something is, I generally pull the thread. :)

Good morning Jim and Katherine..thank you for posts..obviously this is out of realm, in addition to my lack of internet skills..I ask, where do you suggest I continue my search? I have followed up on all suggestions, including mud men as suggested by kyratango, I am stumped. Have a good day for yourselves.
