This is a great Art Deco bakelite box in my collection. It's orange, diamond-shaped, and has painted, Machine Age black and silver geese on the cover. It's likely a jewelry or vanity box. Circa 1930's and maker unknown.
The last picture shows a similar box in Keresztury's "Art Deco Bakelite Jewelry and Boxes" book. The design is at least as old as 1933 since the one depicted in the book has a "A Century of Progress 1833-Chicago-1933" logo on the cover of the box. It was probably a souvenir item sold at the 1933-1934 Century of Progress Exhibition in Chicago.
stunning !!
