This is a 9 cup Olive Green Medallion Corning Ware Percolator. I came across it at a home down-sizing sale. Unaware at the time how old it was or much more about it other than I liked the way it looked, I brought it home. I have found little about this Olive Green design. Most I see have a blue symbol on them and many were recalled. I read on a site that this design was offered as a short time bonus at a store location like a grocery store. I would love to know much more about it including its status regarding the recall and the value.

These were recalled because you needed to place a wire between the electric burner and the bottom of the coffee pot or it may become stuck to the burner. A wire clothes hanger cut and bent into a triangle small enough to fit under the bottom of the pot is all you need to make it safe. These were recalled and that means there are very few of them left so if you got this cheap (less than $25.00) you got a steal. The blue design was the last one out and they had reworked the bottom of the pot slightly so as to fix the " problem" but you still needed the wire on an electric stove. The yellow butterfly was the first and the green was the second while the cornflower blue was the third or so I have been told.

The actual recall was because the handle and chrome spout rim would separate from the pot. - Nothing to do with pot sticking to the burner. - Here is the actual wording of the recall notice: "For chrome-spout percolators, the connection between the black handle and the metal collar is not the problem, the fault lies with how the metal collar is attached to the glass-ceramic pot. They are glued together, and in time the glue will shrink and crack after repeated heating cycles and exposure. The seepage of coffee, water and detergents into the overlap between the pot and the collar is particularly destructive. When the glue deteriorates, the result is a "separation problem", where the pot will drop away from the metal collar when it is carried by the handle. If it drops off while it is full of hot coffee, the user can be scalded badly. There were many reports of injuries concerning burns and lacerations, and half of those required medical attention."
