Hi I was hoping that someone could assist me in finding out about this item. My grandfather purchased it for a lady friend on his death she gave it to me. I have kept if for over 12 years but would like to now know about it. How old the item is? What part of china it may be from? is it for everyday tea party or special events. What type of tea would be brewed mostly in it?
I would think this is a wine ewer set, rather than one for tea.
interesting
You might have seen the discussions about 'Made in China' in other posts today. This set most likely dates from after WW II, certainly not before 1919.
There is a style of decoration called 'millefiori' (Italian for 'thousand flowers') which is prized in antique Chinese porcelain. The decoration on this set is meant to be like 'millefiori', although the flowers are not as densely packed here.
