    This is a tea set that has a Mt. Fuji mark on the bottom and I did some research and found out this marking is from Nippon. I have been notified someone on ebay that it is not Nippon? This set is very very old. My mother is 75 years old and remembers pretending to drink tea with HER grandmother with this set. I don't think this is relevant to this set but the grandmother (Yia Yia) she used this with was from Greece. The colors are vibrant and the whole set is in wonderful condition. Does anyone know what this set is or where the marking is from?

      It's a lovely tea set. There are a few people on here who know about Japan hallmarks, they may drop by this thread to offer you some help. Good luck with it!

      Very similar to this mark on gotheborg;
      Mark: Mt. Fuji, a stream, and "Made in Japan", c 1930. Unconfirmed identity but could be Yokoi Sei-Ichi Shoten which closed in 1942. Mark similar to Fukagawa.

      Porcelain marked "Nippon" is generally prior to 1921. Then export items were marked "Japan" or "Made in Japan" - I would date your set circa 1920's-1930's.

      Here is basic info on Fukagawa;
      In 1894 the modern Fukagawa company was founded by Chuji Fukagawa, with the Fukagawa trade mark of Mount Fuji and a stream, as its trade mark. Similarities in style with Hirado can be seen in some of the early (late Meiji period) Fukagawa pieces, but the Iro-nabeshima style (decoration in enamels such as the Ko-Imari style) is more common. - Not all Fukagawa pieces were marked with the Red Orchid mark, or Mount Fuji with a Stream.

      Wow!! Thank you for the comments and aghcollect, thank you for all of the amazing information. Being that I know nothing about antiques, this is a little confusing to me, but I have done a little more research based on what you've said. I'm thinking this is most likely Yokoi Sei-Ichi Shoten . I have looked at some of these pieces online and they have the same mark as well a reference I saw to the "persimmon color that was discontinued in the mid 1930's." Am I safe to assume this set is hand painted? Any idea on this sets worth?
      Thanks again for all of your information! If you have any more feel free to let me know! :)
