    I do not know much about this basket but I just love it. I found it at a roadside sale and they knew nothing about it. I do believe it is an Native American Basket.

      Could be Eskimo. Never saw one with fur but it might be seal. Google some Eskimo basket images. Good luck.

      It's African, from Ethiopia...not Native American or Eskimo. This form, with the flattened-off top of the conical lid, is common on coiled Ethiopian storage baskets, as is the use of leather to reinforce the bottom and lids. The basket is made from palm fiber.
