    (584 items)

Once more I bring a lamp here at CW. In this case one of the biggest possible lamps… the KD59 model from Kartell.

it was designed by Annig Sarian in 1970. I’ve been unable to find much information about her and pictures of only half a dozen of her designs –ranging from 1970 to 2011- and a few references to designs with no picture… but still this lamp is a design icon and appears in virtually any good book about lamp design.

It stands 185 cm. tall and it’s very light in weight, as it’s made of very thin plastic walls. The sphere is a glass one.

On pic. 2 you can see a reference to it in the Taschen 70s decorative art book. It’s funny they call it a garden lamp as I don’t think it would resist the wind without falling down.

On pic. 3 you can see it at The Other House’s dining room. You can recognize the Gio Ponti hands and the Äpplet vase by Ingeborg Lundin I already shared here at CW. Appart from them, the little orange table is a model designed by Giotto Stopino also for Kartell in the 1970s. We’ve got several of them in red, black and orange. I’ll try and take nice pics of them to share here.

Thanks for your love RACER, VIOLET, FRAN, HO2CULTCHA, AMBER, CZECHMAN and CORMORAN!!!

@KAREN... I daydream of opening a private collections museum in Madrid. Of course, I would need millions to do so :)
@FRAN... Definitely yes, we live in a sort of undefined past ranging between 1900 and 1970 (but of course there are mobile phones, computers, the tv set, kitchen appliances... )
@HO2CULTCHA... yes, but to fit in this lamp would need a couple of lightbulbs at the bottom ;)
