I am trying to confirm the identity of origin and age for these matching Ginger Jars made for export. I have been unable to find an exact pair, but one pair that is very close was identified as 19th Century. I am not ruling out Ming, but help confirming what I have so far would be much appreciated. Thank you.
You can safely rule out Ming dynasty. The English word 'China' simply wasn't being used to mark porcelain before 1645.
You have a pair, not showing much age. These are much more likely to be 20th century.
Yes, Ming would have been a stretch, but I have run across pieces that seemed close. They were purchased in an antique store 50 years ago where $100 was paid for the pair. Assuming they were actually antique, another 50 years age would have them about 1910, which would be Qing. Still hoping to confirm.
Hi noob, I seen your post and ran across this today as I was looking for a double gourd vase I have that is also blue and white. I know they are not the same design exactly but might help you in your search.
