I got this thing at an estate sale about 25 years ago. It holds 4 children who pump the handles back and forth to make it spin around. It works. Measures 28 inches tall by 63 inches wide. Probably has several layers of paint with white and brown showing. Does anyone know what its called or who made it. Ive searched the web and cant find any info. Thanks, Bob.
Looks like it would be fun times for a kid!
I believe this was called the "Whirly Bird" or "Twirl-Go-Round" made by Hedstrom.
ooo! ooo! me wanna play!
Fantastic! Love it!
Let´s go ho2!! :)
OH YEAH -- I definitely remember wanting one of these things when I was a kid, though I don't believe I actually ever got one of my own...a friend or cousin or someone else's once in awhile was all.
Another thing I kinda think I remember about 'em...they remained "fun" to play on even for kids somewhat over their recommended age/weight ratings, which could then ultimately tend to cause some or other bolt/pivot point/etc part within their mechanism to eventually busticate itself -- occasionally with a rather dramatically unexpected "physics experiment" result that'd suddenly toss all its riders to the ground in a heartbeat but fortunately didn't usually also tend to impale anybody on anything...?? ;-)
OH, for all the the crap we all used to do/eat/play with/yada yada that'd be "illegal" nowadays... <groan><lol>
We had one in 1970 thru 72ish. Way fun. We would all fly off one at a time. Neighbors were always over. We just called it merry-go-round. It had better seats and my grandfather had put pegs on one of the seats foot pumps so younger kids could reach and pump too. The faster you all pump, the faster you'd go. I wonder what ever happened to it. We lived in Sun Valley, ca then.
