    ok, this is all the pics of the same chair. I believe that they use to be caned seats. they replaced it with a saddle seat on the old caned frame. notice the laminate on the seat.

      Looks like a pilot's seat after a lot of "pucker factour"!

      This was made in the early part of the 20th century. It appears to have its original seat. A lot of teens and 20's furniture had laminate oak like this. I call it a "solid seat" side chair. While less comfortable, you never have to replace cane.

      Looks like it's never been refinished. Look at that dark patina!
