fortapache
(3422 items)
This is a lye soap used mostly for laundry. It was first introduced in the early 1900s. In 1928 Colgate merged with Palmolive. This bar was made after the merger.
These were sold with coupons that you could trade in for various merchandise such as towels.
In the third photo you can see the Vaseline glass Colgate soap dish which is shaped like a washboard. This soap was made for use with a washboard so that explains that.
That is too cool fortapache!! I've never seen anything like this before. Where in the world were you about to find a complete unused bar of soap from the 1920s?
Yesss! What jscott said is so true! Incredible find fortapache!
Thank you very much jscott0363. It was antique mall where a booth had a few different brands. Probably from a store that closed long ago.
And thank you very much Virginia.vintage.
Oops I made a mistake, this is post merger so it is 1930s or possibly 40s.
Thank you

Think you very much nutsabotas6. I think of Granny too, out by the concrete swimming hole mixing up a batch.
