A friend from Germany had sent me this postcard packet, depicting some of the damage inflicted on Dresden seventy years ago, February 13th and 14th, 1945.

Kurt Vonnegut Jr. was there to witness it all in Schlacthof Fünf.

      Seventy years ago now !!!!

Very controversial even in the planning stage as Dresden was not a producer of war materials & thousands of innocents died of suffocation by the fire storm or fire. Read a lot about it, including Vonnegut, & wonder if the people responsible for the planning & actual bombing ever got any sleep after what they did? I hope not. The usual, "It's just war" is insufficient and as lame a justification as can be invented.

Yes, Buss, what you say is true. It's one of those mysteries that some people would rather not be addressed.

Another case of "Man's Inhumanity to Man"…. Very depressing :(

Thank you for your concern and insight...
