I got these gorgeous chairs and was wondering if anyone had any idea on if they are French or Italian, who the maker is, and what year they are dated to. I know the people they were purchased from were collectors of mostly 1700's Italian furniture however i know these are not that old and i really am not sure if these are italian or french. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I too think they are french provincial pieces. They are made in the same still as a few pieces my aunt had. They are beautiful.

Thank you for your opinions as I am unsure of what exactly they are or who made them but I did find some like them however they hade taken away the tufting. I also found some very similar with curved legs and those were listed as French however the straight leg ones as these are were listed as Hollywood Regency. I have been tempted to remove the lining on the underside of one of the chairs but would hate to pull it off and find nothing under there as far as makers marks go

Did you ever figure out anything about these chairs? I just picked up the exact same chairs and stumbled upon this thread. I was thinking of refinishing the wood and having it reupholstered but I wasn't sure if that was a good idea if they are from the 17th century. I am not really up on my antique knowledge other than thinking the word "vintage" is over used! LOL
