I've been looking at this lamp for the last month at a local antique shop. Finally they had a sale so I bought it. What I like about it is the green shade which may or may not be original but is vintage. There seem to be a variety of shades with these bases and they may have been sold separately. The patent number is very hard to read but a matching lamp has one of D96558. This is a patent for an electric light base from 1935.
I have this same lamp but with a different shade. I have seen this base many times with a different shade. This base is designed to hold pens or pencils in the front grooves and sides are for paper clips and such. I'm thinking this base is made by Eagle. Nice lamp!
Thank you very much Rustfarm. Plus extra thanks for the additional information. Backs up my theory that the base and shades were sold separately.
Thank you
