      See now I feel bad that you have made educated guesses based on chat pictures.
      This is what I know:
      It is glass
      It came from Japan (well done Rose)
      That doesn't mean it's Japanese!
      It came in a Kurata box without a lid and even the seller didn't know if that was right.

      This is what I think:
      It's Japanese. Why? The shape, the foot, the lip finish and the satinisation.

      I have seen similar style of decor from one Japanese artist whose name eludes me, but he may have worked at Kurata at some stage (lots did!).

      It does look like pottery I agree and there is something French about it.

      I'm sorry to test you like that, it was meant in fun. I think you all did great, so thanks;
      Vet, Peggy, Mike, Scott, Rose, Nadia, Paris and Sean!

      ...? Kinda also reminds me a fine carved stone piece????

      As with Agate they can carve pretty fine/thin. I do not know, just popped in my head when I looked closer at the pics.

      ??????

      I've managed to find a similar vase from Irisawa Shoji at Joetsu Crystal.
      I'm going with that for now!
