Here's a really pretty cross pendant with coral and turquoise inlay in silver from Mexico. 1.25" x 1" Stamped with TN-53
I just researched this to find something I was unaware of, which makes me very happy! Hopefully, if you don't already know the following info, then we can learn together ;)
In 1979, the eagle system was replaced by a new letter/number mark to indicate the silversmith and guarantee sterling standard.
The 1st letter of the stamp indicates location, this one is a "T" which is Taxco. The 2ed letter indicates the 1st initial of the last name of the silversmith, here it is "N".
The # indicates that he is the "59th" silversmith with a name beginning with an "N" to register a mark in his city's assay office.
Sounds almost primitive to me and unfortunately, there is no list that matches the letters and numbers to silversmiths names and there are probably less than 15 that have been identified.
I thought that was pretty interesting and wish I had found it before I posted this. But, it's here now and I hope you enjoyed that bit of info as much as I did.
Thanks.
(this info was found on a site; online encyclopedia of silver marks).

Beautiful! Yes it is so anoying that they had a markingsystem and no one kept track of who had what number?! I love mexican pieces, the designs are often so wonderful.
Thank you Elisabethan for your love and comment. I agree that the system was good for what reason??? At least now I do know that the T stands for Taxco and those are the more desired pieces, right?
Thank you nutsy for your love and comment. Almost wish I could wear this.
Phil, jscott and surfdub, thank you for the loves :)
Beautiful cross. Hope you will have a wonderful Easter share :)
