Hi
Evryone.
I found this vase last monday at my local GW, this vase have a ruff surface, not smooth, nice serpentine all around the neck and decoration on each side, nice blue color, i learn about the Pontil, this one was unpolish(look pic 4)This vase stand 17.50 tall, on a 3.50 inch base, 4.25 at the larger point, 3.25 top opening.I need help for some detail who could be the maker, and is age, any input will be appreciated.
Thanks for Viewing.
Alan
I didn't rate it because I wasn't sure what to give. Looks like it was buried for about a century, which gives a good patina with the right minerals. What do you think?
Very nice :).......Looks like a "scavo" type finish Alan. I have a bottle vase in the same technique. I would say mid-century or newer.
Scavo Glass Technique
"This glass imitates the effect caused by long periods spent underground. During manufacture, a mixture of several powders is dispersed on the surface of the object at a temperature of about 800'C. These add the special effect of opaqueness and colouring. To improve adhesion, the piece is heated again..." from F. Deboni's book, MURANO , page 372.
