Hi,
this is an unostentatious vase with a very nice mounting, which makes it more graceful. The metal under the layer of patina shines gold suggesting bronze or brass? I tried to clean it,but it's not so easy and I was afraid of breaking the vase. The glass is UV reactive, but my photo abilities aren't enough to take a good picture.
I also guess that the top was different,as the rim is cut. This makes visible two layers of glass which are rough .
The vase is 22cms tall.
I'd like to share this old "handicaped" piece,as I think it deserves some attention after its long life :-)
I wouldn't try to clean the brass around your vase. It adds a beautiful finish to the vase. At first sight, I believed the brass to be colored green. It's possible that the vase is made of uranium glass and that explains why it reacts to UV light.
Yes,Robin, that's why I gave up.It looks painted green really and matches the greenish of glass.
Nice Art Nouveau vase. The patina of the metal looks great the way it is, DON'T clean it.
Moonhill,I won't clean any more,promise:-)
Thank you Alfredo for your information,I've learnt something new and important for a glasscollector .
