I also have a small collection of bird feeders from my bird watching and feeding hobby. I think I've had this Big Top by Droll Yankees for about 20 years or so. Mostly finches and small birds flock to this one but the wood peckers do take to it as well. The icy rain spell created a bit of a dilemma for the wood pecker that took a few attempts to figure it out. But after he figured the bottom attack to avoid the icicles he had his fill of sunflower seeds.
All your little songbirds are on vacation down here in Florida stuffing their beaks at my feeders. :0)
I can see why this appealed to you, Sir TallCakes. Looks like a beautiful glass lampshade! Oh what Mother Nature does we love to replicate and admire. :)
He is a beauty and although I appreciate not living where ice and snow are, I think at times it must just be gorgeous like this.
Hey! That bird looks like the bird in my brooch! Quick, what is s/he? :))
All the icicles are from the freezing rain yesterday and overnight. It was fun just watching this little guy make several attempts before figuring out the approach from below. The finches and chickadees didn't seem to be bothered by the ice at all. And the north screen wall of the patio looks like an art glass window due the freezing north rain yesterday.

Oh do post a pic of the north screen wall as well! In my sunny climes, I can only admire from afar. :)
I got a few pics of the screen ice but need better light; Ill try to get better pics tomorrow with better light; 'sposed to get more snow tonight. Temps are only expected to be in low 20s so the ice should hold up a bit longer...
Suet blocks are most welcomed by the Woody's.
