This pretty little glass bowl was another recycling centre find !!
For 50p I couldn't say no ..
I think it's Vaseline glass but stood corrected as I'm not up on glass really , its 4"round x nearly 3"high it also has a guilded rim around the top , it's white in colour & has a nice pattern on the base and a different pattern around the top ..
When held up to natural light it seems to get a yellowy off white glow.
I think it's a great little bowl/footed dish & hope you like it :-)
I've just put it under uv light and was expecting it to go green but it goes the same colour as the uv light ???
thanks to TallCakes for the i-d on this beautiful opal glass bowl,
made in the USA & the pattern is American Sweetheart pattern, by Macbeth-Evans & known as Monax , 1930s ;-)
Thanks aghcollect for your extremely fast love :-)
Thanks CindB .. I don't know if it is Vaseline glass as I just put uv light on it & it goes purple / mauve colour I think it has to go green :-)
Thanks for your love & kind comment:-)

It is a nice piece of glass it looks almost cloudy & you can't see the patterns unless you get the light right :-)

Robin- there is a pattern on the base which you cant see from the top ..
i was wondering if its a glass company's mark .. no initials .. as in photo 4..
Thanks.. sd;-)
your bowl was made by Macbeth-Evans and this is their 'American Sweetheart' pattern, c1930s. They patented this white opal color in 1917 and called it Monax.
TallCakes;-) ????
thank you so much !! I've been looking & looking but nothing !!
How do these things end up at a tip in the uk after so many years ??
Many many thanks to you for the i-d; -)
you're very welcome : ) it is interesting to see how depression era glass makes it's way around the world. Macbeth-Evans used their Monax glass formula in several different patterns for a number of years.
Too right CindB , tallcakes is cool !! ;-),
How can people know so much ????
Thanks to you both;-))
Sd ..
