There's a lot of cool stuff about this "tango" glass covered jar by Loetz. The color, coral red, is fairly uncommon, especially on this shape, which came in a wide variety of color combinations. It is especially rare to find these with their original paper labels. The label on this one is intact enough to clearly show the ram motif and the name of the firm in German, Lötz. The ram with front legs raised on this label is taken from the Spaun family coat of arms. The last photo shows a scan from Loetz Austria Glass, 1905-1918, by Waltraud Neuwirth. The picture is of the Spaun family coat of arms engraved onto a glass (which is in a private collection). The ram is located in the lower right quadrant. Interestingly, the upper right and lower left quadrants also depict the crossed arrows with stars that was also used as an engraved signature on select pieces around the turn of the 20th century. This paper label was used from the 1920s, and has been documented to have appeared into the late 1930s.
