I picked up these two large beauties at Urban Ore yesterday for $10 each. i think it was a good investment. these are in PERFECT condition and a nice size too - 10 inches tall x 4.5 inches wide.
[what! no FLAMINGO category in animals!?!?]
These are beauties and the pair as well.....I know ho2 and who doesn't like flamingos...right?
I know what you mean about the flamingos... They don t have one for Pandas either...
thank you mikelv85 and DrFluffy! if not for the dust buildup in the cracks, these ones appear to be brand new. does anyone know what company made them? what company made them? they are each signed differently and the hole has removed part of one signature. i'll post better pics now.
i posted better pics of the signatures. they look different and i can't figure them out.
Oh ho2cultcha, these are magnificent, I love these flamingos!
The hallmarks aren't listed on any of the California pottery hallmark sites I checked, nor on Wiki. I hope someone on here can clue you in. :)
Here you go ho2 :) Bel-Air Ceramics of California possibly designed by William Maddox. It seems there is some connection here between Maddox and Bel-air Ceramics. May have had a label and some were signed as well. Here's a pair on Worthpoint from several years ago.

thanks katherinescollections, mikelv85, and valentino97 - all great info!
the signatures on these are definitely of an old style - 30s/40s, i would say. but if you look at the signature in the 2nd photo, you can see the tops of three letters which look like Bri?? strange...
OMG! You stole those!!! I would love to have these, they are sooo pretty! And having not read the comments yet (I couldn't wait to comment myself) I bet these are really expensive! Really, really expensive...
lol sue!!!
The way I read it is Ceramics by Bel Air of California LA. Then the other says Ceramics Bel Air. Or so I read them. :)
The way to tell is the holes. They look handmade and are not perfect circles. That's how to tell if salt and pepper shakers are authentic and true vintage.
here ya go ho2, your flamenco's are in there. See Maddox pottery then flamingo's...

thank you katherinescollections and shareurpassion!! you are right. it is Maddux. i believe it's an earlier piece by the signature and the holes.
There so ! ( guess I can't use the only definitive description wording for this any more so now that I'm lost for words I guess i have to just say it's so)...I'm lost for words type thing ) ?!
Thanx for sharing such a ( I'm lost for words type thing due to ethic restrictivenessishism)! & junk like & stuff. •!.~,
