This was my grandfather's. One person has called it a cigarette case and another has called it a calling card case. I am curious which one it is. Thank you.

It is marked sterling. My grandfather was quite a wealthy man.
I've seen a lot of cigarette cases and this one definitely falls into the cigarette case category. Very nice indeed!
