    i was lucky enough to pick one of these up here in the uk ,it looks to be unissued ,the chinstrap arrangement seems very crude compared to the earlier models but seems chunky and very durable as is the liner ,i can confirm this one bears a very noxious odour especially on the insides ,the reasons im unsure ,i can only speculate but perhaps some flame retardent treatment prior to issue

      I noticed mine also has a unusual odor? it could be from the green dye they used to make the crude cotton liner , the quality & construction almost looks more like something used in a movie prop than for actual combat use. These are the last of the Saddam era mfg helmets, kind of like an "ersatz" model of the M80, that was made locally or by a neighboring country like Jordon, I have an Iraqi pouch that says made in Jordon on the tag.
