3 feet high, 5 feet long, 19 inches wide. Each side drawer has 3 vertical dividers. Inside the 2 large doors which lock, someone in the last 10 or twenty hears has added a shelf in each side. It has very nice dovetailing on all the drawers. All the wood inside and the hinges inside appear old. There are no extra holes inside to suggest it had other hardware previously. It does look like it has been painted in the last say...50 years. It looks like if you look closely, the doors and drawers at one point had veneers thin lined around the outsides. It has a dark wood stain inside like that was the original color. It weighs soooo much! It has what appears to be the remnants of an old circular 50 cent sized piece sticker on the inside left side of the large middle drawer and the back along the top lip has a stamped # either 4100 0r 4400 I can't remember. So, is it a buffet? Is it young? Is it old? does anyone know anything?
I think it's a mid- century (mahogany?) desk. Usually a buffet would not have that space in the middle, and it would be up on legs. Very nice piece!
I better not tell my husband he said it was a desk and I disagreed!:) I am originally from just east of Lake Ontario but now live in SW Mossouri. I hope to eventually discover the manufacturer. Thanks Upstatenycollector for your I put.
I won't get in the middle of that. My wife's family is from near Pultneyville, if you know where that is.
Obviously a desk!
If it is a desk, then it had a specially made chair to go with it, or desk chairs are taller. All of the chairs in my house are way too short to be used at this as a desk, and the back side is not finished off so it has to be used against a wall.

It must have been against a wall, and so a clerk desk, as the boss had a wide, all faces finished one.
Old detective movies were full of this style, I remember...
Thank you for all of the comments so far!
