Less than a year ago I excitedly found my first piece of Iwata glass, a piece designed by the founder of Iwata glass (and art glass generally in Japan), Toshichi, or Iwata Fujinana .

I own a bit more Iwata Glass now but still get excited when a new piece arrives.
This is my latest Iwata Fujinana vase and a great lump of glass it is.

Two blues of glass mixed with clear which is heavily bubbled, all then twisted. A thick clear case has been added and it has been twisted also so that the twists are offset to each other.

How do I know this is a Toshi design and not one by his son Kuri? I don't know. However based on design cues here I cannot imagine that Kuri designed this....his style is significantly different.

Anyway -it's all very aquatic and nice! I would date this vase around the 50s.

...Oh, had snow when it warmed up a bit -- back to the deep freeze here. Only minus -30 with the windchill close to minus -40. I have to go do some shopping.

Rose! Don't freeze! Must be a good time to be going through boxes of stuff and staying warm. You are my biggest champion and I thank you!
