Janice and Paul Pettee, hand modeled, terra cotta pottery sculpture of a young blonde girl, reminisce of Doris Day. This piece was likely made c.1940's-50's in the Pettee's studio, located in Burbank, California. Signed on the backside & underside "Pettee".
Janice Pettee (1901-1983) and Paul Pettee (1910-1994) were wife and husband studio potters in Burbank, California. Janice Pettee is best known for her celebrity figures she designed for Vernon Kilns. The Pettee's exhibited at the Syracuse Nationals in 1949.
She is great. I love her expression and the combination of glazed/unglazed.
