More signs?

We are now beginning to put up a new strip of big signs along the East property line of aaaLakeside Storage in Provo. Partly because my wife thinks the North side of the property looks cluttered with all of the signs, pumps and planes and a lot of other really cool memobibilia that I love. The new series of big signs Includes this tall pole with the two cool signs we just added to it. The 5' SOCONY is the only sign like it that I have ever seen. It clearly has the Mobil Pegasus but no Mobil name on it? The sign is dated 1938 and as most of you know the SOCONY actually stands for Standard Oil Company of New York and came about after the Standard Oil Company breakup of 1913 where the Fed Courts ruled that Standard was a Monopoly and broke it up in to about 50 "small" Companies in different States. Really? They were/are still owned by the same parent Company and it is another big joke on the American People. I am not in to the politics of it all and just enjoy seeing the intrigue that takes place with big business weaving it's web around the Washington bureaucrats and watching as they dance their little dance of inefficiency, which they seem to do so well. The Standard Dealer sign is one we have had for a while and it is actually in very good condition, except for the obvious removal of the Chevron emblem that is. missing from the bottom of the sign. We like it anyway so hung it up just the way we found it in a local Pickers garage here in Utah. The SOCONY sign came to us all the way from NJ where a Picker found it on one of his hunts. We love that sign and it sure doesn't look 5' wide/tall when hanging on the 22' tall pole. Keep on hunting as that's where the fun is.
